Absurd laws

What is the most absurd law in Britain?

A ban on people dying in the Houses of Parliament has been hailed as the most absurd piece of legislation ever listed on Britain’s statute books.

The obscure edict was closely followed by the ruling that it is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the monarch’s head upside down on an envelope.

Other candidates for the title included the decree that it is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armour.

What do you think is the most absurd and unnecessary piece of legislation in Britain?

I am sure there are just a few people in the Houses of Parliament who might be encouraged to pass away!!

Oliver Cromwell passed a law making it illegal to eat mince pies at Christmas. He must have shared my belief that any pie with the word 'mince' in it which does not contain meat is misleading and certainly not fit for consumption!!
