When you look closely at the picture armed with the suggestion that the male figure of Jesus's immediate right might possibly be female you can see that all is not necessarily as straightforward as it might seem at first. Now there is further speculation about what one sees when the picture ia superimposed with its mirror image The resultant images are quite blurry, but they do change the original painting into something quite different.
